At Voyagers Hook Fishing Co, we believe fishing is more than just a hobby - it’s a way for young people to get outdoors, learn patience, and connect with nature. But for many, the cost of starting out is a barrier.
the cost of living is going through the roof, and some do not have the luxury of spare money to buy into a new hobby.
That’s why we launched the Little Voyagers Project.
This project is designed with two things in mind.
Helping to get children off of screen and into nature.
Getting more people involved in fishing.
But we can’t do this alone. For this to work we will need your help.
How Does it work?
There are a few ways to help.
before you checkout, click on the Little Voyagers Project tab or select the item from the related items. you can add for 1p (or more) to your order.
you can choose to purchase a full kit from the fund page. these are priced according to the products.
If you are a Hook Club Member you can donate your vouchers to the fund. I.e if you have 1000 hook club points, you can choose to take your voucher or donate the £10 to the fund.
At check out there is the option to have your name added to the sponsors page (at the bottom of here) you can opt out of this.
Things to know
Every extra penny goes into the project fund. (if you spend £30 for yourself and choose to add £5, the £5 goes into the fund pot.)
When we’ve collected enough, we build starter kits (rod, reel, and tackle). we will do this as and when we have the funds in the project.
We then supply these free of charge to children and teens who want to try fishing, through schools, youth groups, angling clubs etc. (using the money from the fund to pay for it.)
There will a sign up sheet on the website at certain times of the year for parents, grandparents, teachers to fill out, nominating their child/ren for a kit.
The Little Voyagers Project is a customer-funded sponsorship program that provides fishing tackle to children and is not a registered charity.
The project is designed for children aged 5 to 17 years. (exceptions can be made, please ask.)
The project is not limited to our local area. All are welcome to register interest and be part of the project.
What the Future Looks Like
Once the Little Voyagers Project is up and running, we have exciting plans to grow and reach even more young anglers:
1. Youth Fishing Days
We plan to host special fishing days at local club waters, where children and teens can come together, enjoy the outdoors, and learn from experienced coaches. These events will provide guidance, encouragement, and a safe environment for young anglers to develop their skills and confidence.
2. Youth Fishing Club
Our vision is to create a dedicated youth fishing club - a welcoming space where children and teens can meet, share their experiences, and support each other in learning about fishing and nature. The club would include fun activities, mentoring, and community events to help young anglers grow both their skills and their love for the sport.
3. More Opportunities to Explore
Over time, we hope to expand into additional programs: competitions, nature-based learning experiences, and partnerships with schools and youth groups to ensure that every child has the chance to enjoy fishing, regardless of background.
