We'll be honest - we don't feature venues lightly. But when something is genuinely worth shouting about, we think it's our job to shout about it. Watermeadow Lakes & Lodges in North Perrott is exactly that kind of place.
Nestled in the Somerset countryside just a few minutes from Crewkerne, Watermeadow has quietly been transforming itself into one of the most exciting carp venues in the South West. If you haven't heard of it yet, you will.
A Fishery Going Places
Back in 2023, the team at Watermeadow made a bold decision - they shut the lake down and started again. The whole water was re-dug from scratch, creating a larger, deeper and more productive environment for the fish. It was a significant undertaking, but the results speak for themselves.
The lake now holds around 55 carp, and these aren't small fish. Weights are already touching 38lb, with more than 15 fish confirmed above the 30lb mark and five of those already nudging past 35lb. The first 40 is coming - it's just a matter of when.
In March 2024, 32 C4 carp were introduced to strengthen the stock for the future. Several have already pushed past 20lb, with more expected to follow. This is a fishery that is actively investing in its future, and that's something we really respect.
The lake itself has a lovely feel to it. Lily beds, reed beds, intimate and quiet - it fishes nothing like a commercial water. If you want to sit in a field of pegs elbow to elbow with fifty other anglers, this isn't for you. If you want a proper session on a water that rewards patience and watercraft, you'll love it.
What You Need to Know
Watermeadows runs a strict frozen boilie only policy, with all bait purchased on site. You'll find Aller Aqua pellets - which the fish are fed on regularly - and a selection of Parker Baits boilies available from Gary. It keeps things fair, consistent and gives everyone the same opportunity.

For families or groups, Heron Lodge, Kingfisher Lodge and Willow Lodge offer spacious, comfortable accommodation with lakeside views and everything you need for a proper break away. Imagine waking up, stepping outside with a brew and already being yards from the water. For those travelling with a partner who might not share quite the same enthusiasm for sitting on a rod for twelve hours, Bluebell Retreat and Foxglove Retreat offer a more romantic setting - cosy, private and beautifully finished, with outside decking perfect for those long May evenings.

Watermeadow Lakes & Lodges is a venue with genuine ambition. The redevelopment work, the quality of the stocking and the care that's clearly gone into both the fishing and the accommodation tells you everything you need to know about the people running it. It's a place that's been built properly, managed properly and is only going to get better.
